N.D.s must take all the prerequisite ("pre-med") courses pre-M.D. medical students take, and they must complete a B.S. degree to be accepted into the Naturopathy (N.D.) program.
The N.D. specialty medical school is a four-year program, with parallel tracks of study to Yale University, the Mayo Clinic and other highly acclaimed medical schools.
The required courses in physiology, anatomy, pathology and medical diagnosis are consistent with all other training programs throughout the medical community. In addition, N.D.s receive focused training in alternative treatment methods. The clinical training is also specialized.
The Naturopathic Medical colleges and universities are accredited.
There are national educational standards, including academic and patient care requirements that must be met in order to become a licensed N.D.
N.D.s are licensed in the State of Washington. To remain licensed, N.D.s must attend continued education seminars and courses.
